چکیده

Electric bicyclists are vulnerable road users and play an important role in traffic safety. The focus of this research is on analyzing cyclists’ injury severity vehicle-electric bicycle collisions. It exploratory analysis that was conducted based samples obtained from video data provided by the police Xi’an China. Three types include fatal, injury, property-damage-only (PDO). A random parameter logit (RPL) model specified to gain more insights into factors related level, including human behaviors, vehicle characteristics, roadway attributes, environmental conditions. Some not included previous were introduced study, especially precrash behaviors drivers cyclists. direct pseudo-elasticity effects variables compared investigate stability individual estimates categories. results indicated significantly increment probability fatal accidents as follows: driver violation (speeding, red-light violation, driving opposite direction), cyclist violation), day time (nighttime), visibility restrictions (fixed obstacles), type (larger bus, small truck, larger truck). Based these findings, we suggested measures such strengthening law enforcement installing cameras, implementing zero tolerance for violations, promoting education completing training courses cyclists, enhancing safety awareness through educational activities. can provide a theoretical basis formulating strategies improve

Mixed logit model-based driver injury severity investigations in single- and multi-vehicle crashes on rural two-lane highways.

Crashes occurring on rural two-lane highways are more likely to result in severe driver incapacitating injuries and fatalities. In this study, mixed logit models are developed to analyze driver injury severities in single-vehicle (SV) and multi-vehicle (MV) crashes on rural two-lane highways in New Mexico from 2010 to 2011. A series of significant contributing factors in terms of driver behavio...

Motor vehicle-bicycle crashes in Beijing: irregular maneuvers, crash patterns, and injury severity.

This research presents a comprehensive analysis of motor vehicle-bicycle crashes using 4 years of reported crash data (2004-2007) in Beijing. The interrelationship of irregular maneuvers, crash patterns and bicyclist injury severity are investigated by controlling for a variety of risk factors related to bicyclist demographics, roadway geometric design, road environment, etc. Results show that ...

An Analysis of Vehicle Occupants’ Injury Severity in Crashes Occurred On Rural Freeways and Multilane Highways in Iran

Vehicle occupants comprise a considerable proportion of traffic crash victims in Iran. This paper has focused on vehicleoccupants’ injury severity and employed the Classification and Regression Tree (CART) technique in order toidentify the most important variables affecting the injury severity of these road users in crashes occurred on rural freewaysand multilane highways in I...

The role of intersection and street design on severity of bicycle-motor vehicle crashes

BACKGROUND Safety concerns are a major barrier to cycling. Intersection and street design variables such as intersection angles and street width might contribute to the severity of crashes and the safety concerns. In this study we examined whether these design variables were associated with bicycle-motor vehicle crashes (BMVC) severity. METHODS Using the geographical information system and la...

Risk factors associated with bus accident severity in the United States: a generalized ordered logit model.

INTRODUCTION Recent years have witnessed a growing interest in improving bus safety operations worldwide. While in the United States buses are considered relatively safe, the number of bus accidents is far from being negligible, triggering the introduction of the Motor-coach Enhanced Safety Act of 2011. METHOD The current study investigates the underlying risk factors of bus accident severity...
